BARC received a generous grant from
AKC Companion Animal Recovery (CAR)
Canine Support &
Relief Fund.
Thanks to the 2009 grant awarded we have been able to
purchase:
- Safety equipment for our canines: Chilly Vests, ice
beds, and 12v vehicle fans
- Safety equipment for our handlers: swift water
rescue life vests & foul weather rain gear
- Training equipment: a new scent pump system used to
train for drownings
- Tracking devices used for searches: Garmin Astro
units that track both the handler and the canines that aid in ensuring field
coverage as well as leaving detailed maps for the agencies
- Public Relations equipment: two velcro display
boards to use at PR events
- Funds to send our members to outside seminars and
certifications: we have three handlers planning to attend a VA seminar in
October & two planning to attend a FL seminar in November
