BARC assisted LASAR in a Florida water search in July 2006. http://www.andalusiastarnews.com/articles/2006/07/27/news/658news.txt Sink hole search fruitless By Stephanie Nelson Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation have come away empty handed after a three-day search for the remains of missing Opp teen Kemberly Ramer. According to a spokesman for the Mobile FBI office, nothing was uncovered during the search of a sink hole located on private property near the Holmes-Walton County line, just off U.S. Hwy. 90. The search was prompted after the Opp Police Department received a tip giving directions to the location of Ramer's body. Cadaver dogs were brought in to search the area but were unable to detect a scent, the spokesman said. This was the second tip about Ramer received by officials in less than two months. An anonymous tip was received by the FBI in June. Agents did travel to the property to do a survey but found the tip unsubstantiated. Ramer disappeared on August 15, 1997. According to reports, after attending a softball game that night, Ramer then visited her boyfriend. She left her boyfriend's house and returned to her father's residence and was last seen in his home at approximately 10 p.m. There was evidence of a struggle inside her bedroom and she was alone in the house at the time she vanished, four days before she was due to start her senior year of high school. Ramer's parents reported her as a missing person on August 17, two days after she was last seen. Her personal belongings were left behind at the home, including her eyeglasses, her contacts, jewelry, and money. Her boyfriend and all her family members have been ruled out as suspects. Kemberly Ramer is described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has clear braces on her teeth and thick eyebrows. She was last seen at her father's home in Opp on Aug. 15, 1997, around 10 p.m. She may be wearing a gold bracelet and anklet. Officials ask that anyone having any information in the disappearance of Kemberly Ramer, contact the Opp Police Department at 493-4511.
