Search for body of missing woman turns up nothing

Out-of-state search and rescue teams were called in last week to look for
the body of a missing 42-year-old woman after two men confessed to her
murder.
A search and rescue unit from Louisiana and a recovery team from
Maryland were called in last week by Choctaw Indian officials to aid local
search efforts for the body of Pauline Williams, who has been missing
since August 2003.
The two men, Brent Clemons, 19, of 125 Lagoon Road, and Grantham
K. Steve, 20, of 113 Government Orders, are charged with the woman’s
murder.
Williams, a resident of the Bogue Chitto community, was last seen
with the two men who confessed to authorities that they beat her to death
and threw her body into a creek in the southwestern part of the county,
said Sheriff’s Investigator Ralph Sciple.
Officials from Louisiana Search and Rescue and the Bay Area
Recovery Team of Maryland used dogs to search the Beasha Creek off county
Road 155 Thursday morning but found no indication of a body.
Authorities returned to the area Friday with a backhoe and
recovered a couple of items of clothing but had no indication of whom it
belonged to, Investigator Sciple said.
Williams’ family reported her missing to Choctaw authorities after
several things led them to suspect foul play, Sciple said, noting that she
did not show up to work or return home after her mother was hospitalized.
“We are not going to quit searching until we find her body,”
Sciple said.
Williams’ daughter Serena Stoliby said Monday that her mother had
just started work in the housekeeping department at Pearl River Resort
when she was reported missing.
Stoliby saw her mother a few days before she disappeared.
“We pretty much knew that something was wrong,” she said. “We knew
if she was going to go anywhere, she would let us know. She would have
contacted somebody. There was no contact at all,” Stoliby said.
Williams had five children and eight grandchildren.
