[New!] On March 24, 2006 after a week of heavy downpours on the newly brush-cleared mound, human remains were found confirming the dogs' indications from years ago. 

Archeology lectures, demonstrations, and field exercises lead by Mississippi Department of Archives and History archeologists, a DMORT forensic anthropologist, and an University of MS Center for Archeological Research (remote sensing & archaeogeophysics) analyst.  The participating canines worked the following sites:

  1. Winterville Mounds

    • 1400 AD terminal date

    • historic burials - 1800’s (1850-1900)

  1. Nowell Historic Cemetery

    • 1900-1925
       

  2. Walford Mounds

    • 800 AD - 1200 AD

    •  Historic cemetery dates?

  1. Parchman Place Mounds

    •   1000 AD - 1500 AD

      •  late Mississippian

    • Historic graves 1870’s - 1890’s, 1920’s

      • (somewhere in there many were buried due to Yellow Fever)

  1. Hollywood Mounds (blind tests)

    • 900 AD circa 1700 (occupied)

    • late Mississippian 1350-1450-1700

    • bones plowed up in field by Hollywood mounds - 900 AD - 1700 AD
